The project purpose was to expand the genetic diversity of sunflower by forming collections, studying and selecting the most valuable accessions in the conditions of the Forest-Steppe of Ukraine for their further use in the breeding of sunflowers for different purposes. A collection of 802 sunflower accessions was formed; in 2025, the collection was enriched with 17 new accessions. In 2025, 87 new sunflower lines were continued to be evaluated for morphological and valuable economic traits. 756 sunflower accessions were certified in accordance with the requirements of the European Catalogue of Plant Genetic Resources (Eurisco); this accounts for 96.3% of the total collection. 626 sunflower seeds were put to long-term storage in the National Depository. Eighty-seven sunflower accessions were assessed by distinguishing morphological characteristics of plants using the UPOV method, and their value for breeding was determined. Based on the results, 7 new valuable oil and confectionery sunflower sources were identified: ‘Kh 6318 B’ with a high content of oleic acid in oil (89.40%); ‘Kh 813 B’ has a high protein content in seeds (24.76%); ‘Kh 2118 B’ with a high content of oil in seeds (57.24%); ‘Kh 8277 V’ with a high output of seeds per plant (61.0 g); ‘Kh 78 B’ with a low huskiness (22.27%); ‘KhZU 37 V’ and ‘KhZU 39 V’ with combinations early ripening (87 and 85 days, respectively) and high scores of resistance to sunflower broomrape (9 points). The new lines have significant advantages over the existing ones in terms of several economic characteristics. Product Description popup.authors Nina M. Leonova Nataliia V. Kuzmyshyna Valeriia P.
