The purpose was to reveal the potential of genetic diversity of the new gene pool of cereals in terms of valuable economic and identifying traits for enrichment, formation and effective use of collections of the National Bank of Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine. Research methods included introduction; evaluation of accessions by field, laboratory and other methods; morphological identification; updating of the gene pool information system. Theoretical and practical results. A gene pool of 21,468 cereal accessions was formed; the gene pool includes 6,394 winter common wheat accessions, 3,135 spring common wheat accessions, 247 winter durum wheat accessions, 1,335 spring durum wheat accessions, 1,075 accessions of underutilized wheat species, wild wheat and barley species, and wheat amphidiploids, 1,978 winter triticale accessions, 2,072 spring triticale accessions, 353 winter rye accessions, 35 spring accessions, 2 perennial rye accessions, and 4,842 spring barley accessions. The genetic diversity of valuable economic and identifying traits was characterized for 4,866 new cereal accessions. Three trait collections were registered. Novelty. All genetic diversity levels were determined for tolerance to biotic factors, yield constituents, adaptability, and grain quality in the new gene pool of spiked cereals. Genetic sources of tolerance were identified and selected. Implementation efficiency. The formed collections accelerate the breeding process from three to five years and contribute to the creation of promising varieties, the introduction of which into production will increase gross grain yields and reduces pesticide load on the environment. Field of use. Scientific, breeding and educational programs. Product Description popup.authors Roman L. Bohuslavskyi Serhii V. Chernobai Ahdrii V. Yarosh Olha V.
