The issues of reliable and accident-free operation of reinforced concrete bridge structures are investigated. The problematic issue of increasing the age of bridges, increasing the number of bridges whose design solutions do not meet modern requirements, increasing the weight of freight vehicles and the intensity of their traffic has been investigated. The modern experience of designing and restoring bridge structures has been investigated, highlighting the problematic issues of ensuring the smooth functioning of transport infrastructure. An important element of the research was the development of methods for restoring bridges and overpasses, taking into account modern standards and using existing structures and foundations to reduce the cost and duration of restoration work. Based on the results of the work, a refined methodology for inspecting strategic transport infrastructure facilities was developed, with the determination of advance technical support work volumes (reinforcement of support foundations, reinforcement of load-bearing structures to increase the load-bearing capacity of facilities and reduce their vulnerability). The dynamics of the pace of construction of road bridges and the dynamics of changes in the length of road bridges built in Ukraine were also summarized. The data obtained formed the basis for the development of a methodology for forecasting the accident-free operation period, which established that the residual life of a bridge, taking into account the actual technical condition of its main elements at the time of inspection (damage), can be determined from the equation of element degradation. The dependencies obtained allow for the prediction of the technical condition of the bridge in accordance with regulatory requirements and the assignment of operational and restoration measures.
