In the collection and hybrid chickpea nurseries, an assessment of breeding material was carried out in order to select samples and lines with valuable economic traits. The genotypes that are promising in terms of disease resistance, plant architecture, and manufacturability were identified: UD0500101 Krasnokutsky 123, UD0500417 Smachny, UD0500102 Luhanets and UD0500444 Dneprovskyi vysokoroslyi. In the F₂ hybrid nursery, the following combinations were selected based on the complex of economically valuable traits: 15/4(23) Smachny/Krasnokutsky 123, 25/3(23) Pamyat/Dobrobut and 28/5(23) Fagot/Pamyat, which were characterized by the optimal height of the lower bean attachment, an increased number of beans per plant and high productivity. Under irrigation conditions, these lines combined early maturity, resistance to diseases and lodging and formed the largest seed mass per plant (21.1–22.4 g).
