The stability of the response to selection for linolenic and linoleic acids in two different generations F2 and F3 was revealed. This indicates not only the high efficiency of selection for the content of unsaturated linoleic and linolenic fatty acids, but also the determination of these traits by a small number of genes. According to the quantitative characteristics "number of bolls", "mass of seeds per plant", "number of seeds per plant" and "mass of 1000 seeds", the indicators of narrowly directed inheritance varied significantly, which indicates a lower efficiency of selection in F3 populations than in F2 populations. The obtained data on the heritability of the fatty acid composition of the oil and the main productivity indicators contributed to the creation of two new varieties of oil flax of different directions. The Victoria variety is intended for food use, with an extended shelf life of the oil, due to the linolenic acid content of up to 10%. With a mass of 1000 seeds of 6.8 g, it exceeds all existing varieties. The Romance variety is a technical variety obtained as a result of interspecific hybridization using germplasm of the wild species L. angustifolium, with marker traits (white flower with bright purple veining, pink bud and mustard seeds), yielding 2.2 t/ha. The creation of new varieties of various directions is a significant contribution to the development of this direction of flax breeding and a strong economic argument in favor of its widespread implementation.
