Experience with stocking natural watercourses with fish seedlings reared in controlled conditions of fish farms does not always demonstrate the expected positive result, which raises the question: juveniles reared in artificial conditions usually have a lower adaptation to the natural environment than juveniles from natural populations. Understanding this issue is a key aspect to the development of artificial conditions that optimize the survival and adaptation of juveniles after release, as well as to the awareness of the limitations of what can be achieved by changing methods of rearing in artificial conditions.
