Purpose of the work: to investigate the historical book collections stored in the Scientific Library of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, the development of Ukrainian book publishing in Galicia in the 19th century, the history of the Scientific Library, as well as publications by individual university employees and reports about the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (compilation of bibliographic indexes). Research methods: bibliographical, heuristic, analytical and thematic, structural and typological, comparative and historical, functional, systemic (systemic and typological). Results: the implementation of the scientific topic proceeded in several directions: 1) research on book collections from the funds of the Scientific Library of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv – two separate scientific and reference editions were prepared for publication; 2) bibliographic cataloging of internet publications about the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and its employees – 16 quarterly bibliographic indexes were compiled; 3) research on the development of Ukrainian book publishing and public education in Galicia in the second half of the 19th century – 1 chapter in a collective monograph, 5 articles and abstracts of reports at scientific conferences were published.
