Changes in the initial military training system of Ukraine in the conditions of the modern Russian-Ukrainian war are clarified. An initial military training system, which was formed in the Baltic countries, primarily the Republic of Lithuania, in the late 20th – early 21st centuries, is revealed. Special attention is paid to the experience of the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union. The experience of implementing initial military training and civic education in Great Britain is analyzed, the forms and methods of training cadets are revealed. The introduction of elements of military training into the education system of Poland, France, and the USA is highlighted. The historical aspects of the formation and reorganization of initial military training in the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the second half of the 20th – early 21st centuries are traced.
