Develop methods to increase the stability of the cutting tool
popup.description2
During the reporting period, a comprehensive study was carried out aimed at increasing the service life and strength characteristics of cutting tool assemblies used in the machining of structural chromium steels classified as difficult-to-machine materials. A testing methodology was substantiated, and an algorithm for applying protective composite PVD coatings based on titanium nitrides and carbides was developed, which resulted in improved mechanical endurance of face milling cutter teeth made of high-speed steels and cemented carbides. As a result of studying wear kinetics, the regularities of the influence of strengthening coatings on the thermally stressed state of the cutting part and its resistance to brittle fracture under intermittent contact conditions were established. In addition, a mathematical correlation between tool life and cutting parameters was determined. Using X-ray spectral analysis, the chemical composition and morphological features of wear surfaces were examined, enabling identification of the dominant mechanisms of damage in the working zones of cutting inserts. Special attention was devoted to the analysis of modern lubrication and cooling technologies, particularly the application of minimum quantity lubrication using Mobil DTE 22 oil activated by a corona discharge electric field. An original nozzle device design and a specialized tribometric test rig were developed to evaluate the lubricating performance of activated agents. Experimental results confirmed that the use of ionized air–oil aerosols significantly reduces friction torque, stabilizes contact interactions in the cutting zone, and ensures minimal surface roughness of machined parts.
