The research was carried out in the southern Steppe zone of Ukraine, which is a convenient testing ground for identifying the most arid lentil genotypes adapted to the conditions in the natural environment without the use of special devices or artificial climate control. In the competitive variety testing of the reporting year, 8 best lines were distinguished with a yield of 0.75-1.10 t/ha, which significantly exceeded the standard variety Linza by 0.17-0.52 t/ha. Also in the control nursery, 5 self-pollinated lines were identified, which were selected from collection samples, which were characterized by increased adaptability to dry conditions of the year. Their yield varied from 0.94 t/ha to 1.05 t/ha, which significantly exceeded the standard variety Linza by 0.25-0.36 t/ha. Under optimal conditions, their yield reaches 2.0 t/ha, and under arid conditions, it is at the level of 1.0-1.2 t/ha.
