The gene pool of the Plant Breeding and Genetic Institute - National Center for Seed and Cultivar Investigation includes 10,757 samples of grain crops. In 2021-2025, 942 samples of various crops were obtained, of which 467 samples were soft winter wheat, 182 samples were durum winter wheat, two samples were durum spring wheat, 247 samples were spring barley, 12 samples were winter barley, 79 samples were aegilops, 58 samples were legumes, five samples were sunflowers, and five were corn. A total of 7,778 sample passports were transferred to the Central Database, of which 5,166 were soft winter wheat, 296 were durum winter wheat, 825 were winter barley, 1,386 were spring barley, 58 were einkorn, 15 were spelt, three were spelt, and 29 were triticale. In total, during the reporting period, 427 samples were found in various nurseries studying the genetic resources sector, including: soft winter wheat - 316, durum winter wheat - 12 samples, spring barley - 79, two samples of triticale, 11 samples of spelt, 41 samples of spelt, and 79 samples of aegilops. In total, 197 sources of valuable traits were identified during the reporting period, of which 79 were sources of soft winter wheat, 31 samples of durum winter wheat, eight samples of winter barley, 50 samples of spring barley, eight samples of spelt, 6 samples of spelt, and 15 samples of triticale. 1163 samples of grain seeds were transferred to various breeding and scientific programs. 855 samples were transferred to the breeding programs of the PBGI - NCSCI. Samples were transferred to Odesa Mechnikov National University (Department of Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Genetics) transferred – 39 samples of soft winter wheat and 17 of durum wheat. 37 samples of legumes were transferred to the forage crop breeding laboratory of the Poltava State Agricultural Research Station.
