The purpose of the study is to develop scientific and methodical foundations for the effective development of the grain branch on the principles of economic feasibility of growing new varieties and hybrids and the implementation of adaptive technologies. Research methods are dialectical, abstract-logical, method of system analysis, statistical-economic, normative, calculation-constructive, graphic, expert assessments and other methods of economic research. The main results. The conceptual provisions for the development of the grain production in the Steppe zone of Ukraine are formulated. The methodical recommendations for assessing the efficiency of grain production and its territorial location are grounded. The norms for labor, monetary, material and energy costs for grain production for the conditions of the Steppe zone of Ukraine are developed, taking into account the improvement of technological support for grain production. The methodical recommendations for the economic assessment of innovations in the field of grain production and the recommendations for the implementation into production of the most effective implementation for adaptive technologies for growing grain crops in the conditions of the Steppe zone of Ukraine are grounded. The program for the competitive production of high-quality food and feed grain in the agricultural formations of the Steppe zone of Ukraine is developed. Scientific developments are recommended for use in scientific research, the educational process, the activities of agricultural enterprises and government bodies.
