Producing several generations in a short period of time forms the basis of modern speed breeding technologies, which determine the rate at which new cultivars are created. The indicator of canopy temperature depression has demonstrated its promise for use in practical breeding for screening and selecting drought-tolerant biotypes, provided that the research methodology is strictly followed. Its advantages lie in speed, cost-effectiveness, and the absence of damage to experimental plants. The method is being implemented in the breeding process for developing winter wheat varieties with enhanced adaptive traits. A concept has been developed for the use of resilience indicators under climate change conditions, adapted for southern Ukraine, which enables rapid detection of the resilience of winter crops to unfavorable overwintering conditions and drought, both under controlled (artificial) climate conditions and in the field. It allows for shortened assessment periods and the possibility of conducting such evaluations at different stages of breeding work. Based on the developed concept, a system of adaptability indicators for winter crops has been created, taking into account the agroclimatic conditions of the Southern region. Recombinant inbred lines (RIL) of barley were developed. The main requirement for developing RILs is to minimize the influence of selection for the trait under investigation. In parallel with the development of RIL sets, polymorphism of the parental genotypes was assessed across 14 microsatellite loci. Methodological guidelines have been developed that outline the requirements for conducting studies of field plant material using agrobiological, biochemical methods, analytical procedures, and interpretation of results.
