Purpose: to substantiate the organisational principles for ensuring rural population employment, including in de-occupied territories, to identify strategic directions for minimising risks for the rural population in social and labour relations related to the Russian-Ukrainian war, institutional constraints, other challenges and specificities of rural areas. Organisational principles have been developed to ensure the social and labour relations stability and peasants’ incomes in the context of widespread restrictions on economic activity. The role of local authorities has been substantiated, their functions in solving the issues of rural population employment have been improved; the territorial communities’ capacity to preserve and develop the rural settlement network has been enhanced. The scientific and methodological foundations for researching rural employment in terms of identifying factors that influence employment have been improved, and these factors have been systematised into groups. Methodological approaches to quantitative analysis of factors affecting employment have been developed, and an economic-mathematical model has been used to assess the degree of their impact on rural employment and the number of people employed in agriculture. An optimal model of employment in agriculture has been developed. The directions and impact of agrarian business ecosystems on rural employment have been identified and assessed. Priority directions of state policy aimed at ensuring rural employment and preventing risks to productive and protected employment, including agricultural workers, have been outlined. Methodological approaches to developing a programme to ensure rural employment in de-occupied territories have been developed.
