The goal of the work was the scientific substantiation of ways to enhance the seed productivity of energy crops by selecting adapted varieties and optimizing the elements of their cultivation technology under the conditions of Ukraine. The object of the research was the crops of energy cultures, particularly switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) and other less common energy plants. The subject of the research included the varietal characteristics of seed productivity formation and the influence of agro-technical factors on seed yield levels. In the process of the work, a complex of field and laboratory studies was conducted to assess varieties based on economically valuable traits, and to study the adaptability, variability, and stability of seed productivity depending on the genotype and growing conditions. Patterns in the formation of seed yield of energy crops were established, depending on varietal properties, plant biometric indicators, and key elements of the cultivation technology. Based on the generalization of experimental data, methodological approaches were developed to increase the seed productivity of energy crops, ensuring a fuller realization of their biological potential. The research results can be used in agriculture, the agro-industrial complex, crop production, breeding and seed production of energy crops, as well as for establishing new energy plantations for biofuel production.
