Sokolovsky» popup.description1 The project aims to develop modern and effective ways of processing soil data to create more accurate and reliable pedotransfer models tested in Ukraine's soil and climatic conditions, based on EU approaches, to integrate into the European soil information system. popup.description2 The object of research is modern methodological approaches used to develop reliable region-specific pedotransfer functions; pedotransfer functions of physical and hydrophysical properties of soils, which establish relationships between basic soil indicators and such properties as soil bulk density, total porosity, moisture of plants stable wilting and field soil water capacity; published peer-reviewed scientific sources containing the results of Ukrainian soil reconnaissance with measured parameters of their properties. The purpose of the research is to develop modern and effective methods of processing soil data to create more accurate and reliable pedotransfer models, tested in the soil and climatic conditions of Ukraine, based on EU approaches with the aim of integration into the European soil information system. Research methods: analytical and bibliographic, statistical, and comparative-analytical. Theoretical results – the experience of pedotransfer modeling of soil properties was generalized; approaches to creating of locally specific pedotransfer functions of physical and hydrophysical soil properties of the European continent were summarized. Practical results – a catalog of pedotransfer functions has been developed and systematized to determine the physical and water-physical characteristics of soils; an inventory and adding of the “Soil Properties of Ukraine” database with new soil profiles and parameters were carried out; methodological guidelines “Methods for Processing Soil Data for Pedotransfer Modeling with the Aim of Integration into the European Soil Information System” were developed. Implementation efficiency – the use of pedotransfer functions will significantly simplify the determination of soil properties, in particular in cases where it is necessary to conduct a large number of measurements over large areas, and reduce time and resource cosrs.
