A genetic study of two lines 1871817, 1811231 was conducted based on polymorphisms of the MSTN and PGR genes. Heterozygosity and inbreeding indices were estimated, and the G-BLUP method was applied to predict productivity and reproductive ability. A breeding index has been developed to assess the reproductive ability of queen rabbits, containing BLUP AM – assessments of reproductive and maternal traits. Genotyping of female rabbits of the Poltava Silver breed was carried out according to the G2464A gene polymorphism. An optimized breeding system for Poltava Silver rabbits has been developed using BLUP evaluation of rabbits and the inclusion of DNA markers to improve their productive qualities (methodological recommendations “Optimized breeding system for rabbits in the process of breed improvement” have been prepared).
