The object of the research is military personnel policy in the defense and army construction spheres, legislation on military service, and the codification of military legislation in NATO member states. The purpose of the research is to improve the regulatory and legal framework for military personnel policy in the defense sphere, to develop a draft Code of Ukraine on Military Service, and to develop proposals for necessary changes to Ukraine's regulatory and legal acts on military service. The research methods include system analysis, multidimensional comparative analysis, synthesis, and expert assessment. The novelty of the work lies in the fact that, based on the results of the research: An analysis of the experiences of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the armed forces of leading NATO member states was conducted to develop a comprehensive understanding of the legislative framework for military service. Proposals to amend and add to the regulatory legal documents governing the procedure for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine were substantiated. Recommendations were developed to align the legislative framework for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations with the legal principles adopted by the armed forces of leading NATO member states.
