The aim of the research – to scientifically and methodologically ensure the functioning of the SIC as the basis of the information support system for the rational use of soils of Ukraine. Research methods – collection of data on soils, field, cameral processing, profile-analytical, comparative-geographical, field, calculation-substantive, genetic-substantive, deductive. Scientific and methodological foundations for the functioning of the SIC have been developed. Methodological features of obtaining, verifying, and storing soil data were determined. A correlation of the soil nomenclature of Ukraine with the WRB for maps at a scale of 1:750000 was developed. A mechanism for verification of soil data obtained from various sources was developed. A methodology for assessing the feasibility of withdrawing militarily degraded arable land from circulation and an expert assessment using the remote method based on satellite data was developed. Methodological foundations for the unification of soil data and their harmonization with international databases were developed. The "Procedure for Database Formation and Exchange of Information on Soils of Ukraine" was developed. Methodological approaches regarding the acquisition, processing and storage of information on soils that underwent military damage were improved, the database was supplemented with attributes of militarily degraded soils. A methodological model of information support for sustainable soil resource management was developed. A system of information support for the rational use of soils was developed. Efficiency – the information support system will allow increasing the efficiency of management decisions in the aspect of rational use of soil resources by 10-20%.
