Sokolovsky» popup.description1 To study the changes in satellite images of the state of the soil cover, which were caused by military actions, using the example of the Kharkiv region popup.description2 The object of the study is the soils of the Bogodukhiv, Izyum, Chuguyiv, Kupyansky and Kharkiv districts of the Kharkiv region that were affected by military actions The purpose of the study is to establish identifiers of the impact of military actions on the soil cover based on satellite information. Research methods are office-based, processing of satellite images, GIS processing of satellite imagery, laboratory and analytical. Based on the results of the work, identifiers of physical, mechanical, abiotic and chemical impacts were established based on satellite data. Signs of physical impact (military field roads) on satellite images are thread-like lines on agricultural fields that were absent before the start of hostilities; mechanical – anomalous color features, or elongated and broken amorphous structures on the soil cover; abiotic – a sharp change in the color of plants (plant remains) to an intense black color on the field; chemical – the appearance of black or white smoke on the image, a sharp change in the color of the latter to black. It was established that the chemical impact on the soil cover is point-like in nature. Based on the results of the overlay analysis of the impact of military actions on the soil cover of the Bogodukhov, Izyum, Chuhuyiv, Kupyansky and Kharkiv districts of the Kharkiv region, thematic maps of various factors of influence and the degree of impact of military actions on the soil cover were created both by districts and throughout the Kharkiv region. The areas chemically contaminated by fragments of armored vehicles on agricultural lands of the administrative districts of Kharkiv region were preliminarily calculated: Bogodukhiv district – 2 hectares, Kharkiv district – 1.75 hectares, Chuguyiv district – 13 hectares, Kupyan district – 49.25 hectares, Izyum district – 31.5 hectares. In general, there is no continuous contamination of agricultural lands on the territory of Kharkiv region.
