The feasibility of using metal as a propellant for a hybrid-type electric propulsion engine has been investigated. A conceptual model of a metal-propellant electric propulsion engine employing vacuum-arc and magnetron discharges has been developed. An experimental prototype of the electric propulsion engine model has been fabricated. Preliminary experimental studies have been carried out. A mathematical model has been developed, and a multiplicative–additive integral efficiency criterion for complex technologies using ion–plasma devices has been formulated in the form of a convolution of a vector of local criteria in the space of quantitative and qualitative indicators. The verification procedure has been improved, and a new method for validating the adequacy of the efficiency model of complex technologies using ion–plasma devices has been developed.
