The ideological principles of construction, implementation features, and requirements of modern networks based on the NGN-IMS concepts are considered. The architectural features of modern electronic communications networks are identified, and the main network elements are characterized. The parameters of multi-pair TPP cables and twisted-pair UTP Cat.5e cables are investigated through measurement and modeling of frequency and time-domain parameters required for further analysis of transmission system characteristics. The basic principles of constructing advanced transmission systems (TS) using the method of transmission by a set of orthogonal harmonic carrier signals, also known as OFDM, are studied.
