However, no positive effect on the test was observed. In the serum of animals with PTSD and treated with fluoxetine, levels of the proinflammatory kinin interleukin-6 increased compared to controls. Uric acid levels also increased, indicating a purine metabolism disorder. Stress during juvenile/peripubertal development and during fluoxetine treatment with a short washout period causes an imbalance of male sex hormones and morphological changes in the testicular and epididymal tissues.
