Registration Date 04-02-2026 Organization State institution "V.P. Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" popup.description1 To study the clinical and structural features of post-traumatic, post-COVID and congenital pathology of the iris and lens and to develop methods of their correction in children popup.description2 The first analysis of the features of blast trauma in children showed that this age group is characterized by a predominance of 63.4% of open eyeball trauma with damage to 3 or more eye structures in 88.4% of cases, with the highest frequency of lens trauma (73.1%), in 61.6% of cases with the presence of foreign bodies and in 50% a combination of open and closed eyeball trauma. The observations about the possible triggering role of SARS-CoV-2 disease in the development of recurrent intraocular tumors, progression of congenital vascular pathology and demyelinating diseases are significant. An original technique for simultaneous correction of ectopia of the pupil and lens during ELeP has been developed, which ensures the preservation of the intact anterior hyaloid membrane of the vitreous body and, accordingly, the anatomy of the entire posterior pole of the eye, which prevents the development of vitreoretinal complications, does not affect the future organogenesis of the child's eye, does not cause an exudative reaction of the eye membranes due to the reduction of its traumatism, and contributes to obtaining the highest possible visual acuity after surgery. A technique for forming the pupil in congenital acoria has been developed, which provides not only the creation of a pupillary opening to normalize the hydrodynamics of the eye, but also ensures the preservation of a transparent lens. A rehabilitation system for children with congenital aniridia combined with congenital cataract has been developed, which aims to form an optic capsular diaphragm that will perform optical functions in eyes with aniridia, consisting of two stages - surgical and the subsequent process of modeling a secondary cataract, which allows avoiding traumatization of limbal stem cells, forming an opening in the optic capsular diaphragm that simulates a standard-sized pupil and has all the advantages of using autologous tissues (absence of immunological and inflammatory reactions).
