The level of animal productivity in cattle, pig, and sheep herds was determined. The presented results of the assessment of the breeding base and the analysis of the quantitative composition of all breeding resources of domestically bred cattle, pigs, and sheep in the Southern region of Ukraine indicate that their numbers continue to decline rapidly. These negative trends in the functioning of the livestock sectors in the Southern region necessitate the development of principles for the development (restoration) of animal husbandry in the post-war period and in the long-term perspective. The conceptual principles for the further development (restoration) of animal husbandry in the Southern region include: - preservation of existing genetic resources of livestock; - restoration of livestock numbers and enhancement of their genetic potential; - stabilization of farm animal populations and the introduction of a set of effective organizational and management measures aimed at sectoral development in the post-war period; - restoration of the breeding base in cattle, pig, and sheep farming; - development of feed production; - implementation of modern feeding systems and technologies in animal husbandry.
