Registration Date 09-02-2026 Organization State institution "V.P. Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" popup.description1 to study the incidence, pathogenesis, clinical course and treatment of viral keratitis (herpes zoster, SARS-COV-2) popup.description2 For the first time, differences in the frequency of clinical forms of primary and recurrent herpetic keratitis (HK) that developed after COVID-19 were established: in primary HK, tree-like keratitis was more common (20.7% compared to 2% in recurrent HK) and ulcerative-necrotic keratitis (41.2% compared to 15.6% in recurrent HK). For the first time, in both groups of primary and recurrent HK that developed after vaccination against COVID-19, stromal non-necrotizing keratitis was most common (62.5% and 84%, respectively). In 84.2% of patients in both groups, the level of vitamin D in venous blood was lower than normal. The features of regional hemodynamics in patients with primary and recurrent HK after COVID-19 disease and after vaccination against COVID-19 were studied. For the first time, after COVID-19, patients with primary stromal GC (SGC) had an insufficiency of the volume pulse blood supply of the eye by 17.1%, and with relapse of SGC - by 14.2%. It was found that in patients with primary and recurrent GC that developed after COVID-19, the level of IgG in venous blood was above normal to all viruses of the herpes virus group; to Herpes Zoster in 93.2% of cases, to Epstein-Barr virus - in 76.4%, and to cytomegalovirus - in 86.4% of cases. For the first time, the level of absolute and relative number of peripheral blood T lymphocytes with expression of adreno- and acetylcholine receptors was studied in different periods of the course of recurrent stromal herpetic keratitis and the determination of the interaction with cytokines TNF, IL 6, IL 4, CD5, CD 54, CD 25, CD 95 in these patients. It was established for the first time that the level of peripheral blood T lymphocytes with expression of adrenoreceptors/acetylcholine receptors during the period of remission/relapse of recurrent SGS is significantly higher than in the control group.
