The subject of the study is the scientific and practical aspects of modernization of the legal framework for destruction waste management under martial law, during post-war recovery and in the context of the status of Ukraine as a candidate for accession to the European Union. The problems and ways to improve the procedure for recording destruction waste are specified. The importance of ensuring an appropriate balance between general and special rules governing this accounting is substantiated. The study argues that the management of destruction waste as a specific type of waste should be fully integrated into all levels of the planning system, starting with the National Waste Management Plan as the basis for implementing state policy in this area. The ways for optimizing the central level of institutional support for the development of destruction waste management are identified. The study proposes clearly defining the role and scope of powers of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine in shaping and implementing state policy in the field of destruction waste management. It is substantiated that the flexible European approach to applying the waste hierarchy, which allows changing the priority of actions regarding certain types of waste in favor of achieving a better environmental outcome, is the most reasonable and appropriate for organizing an effective destruction waste management system. The research findings are summarized in two articles in scientific journals and two abstracts in the proceedings of scientific and practical conferences.
