The defining trends of vegetation transformation are the reduction of species diversity, ruderalization, adventitization and the spread of invasive species. A database of bioecological characteristics of ruderal and alien species of the compared ecosystems has been created. A significant spread of alien species has been identified in biotopes with various types of disturbances due to military actions. Indicator species and markers have been recommended for assessing the toxic impact of explosives and the ecological state of contaminated areas. An assessment methodology, a transformation concept, measures for optimizing and restoring vegetation, predictive assessments of delayed military consequences, theoretical foundations for restoring forest plantations for phytomelioration and military needs have been developed. The scientific novelty of the results lies in establishing patterns of changes in the state of phytocenoses depending on the type of military disturbances. Marker signs of the toxic impact of explosives on the photosynthetic activity of plants in natural conditions have been identified. A new methodological approach for a comprehensive assessment of vegetation transformation based on remote sensing data and bioecological markers has been developed. A strategy for forest restoration has been proposed, which combines methods for promoting natural succession and targeted selection of species with ecological and coenotic stability. Practical significance: development of measures to minimize the negative impact of the consequences of military actions on vegetation cover. Scope: ecological safety, rational nature management, forestry, water management, invasive ecology. Product Description popup.authors Kordium Yelyzaveta L. Vadym A. Gorban Volodymyr S.
