The research object is the communication activities of the armed forces in modern military conflicts. The research subject is the justification of priority directions for the development of the communication system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, taking into account the experience of armed conflicts and current threats and challenges. The aim of the work is the scientific and theoretical justification of directions for the development of public relations, taking into account the characteristics of modern armed conflicts, and the development of methodological recommendations for organizing the activities of the communication units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (public relations bodies) to improve their effectiveness and adapt to modern threats and challenges. Research methods – general scientific: analysis, induction, deduction, modeling, comparison, synthesis, generalization, representation; specially scientific: abstract-logical, logical-semantic, systemic, structural-functional. To achieve the stated goal, the following tasks were accomplished: an analysis of the main doctrinal provisions and the restrictions based on them by legislation (established by subordinate acts, departmental documents, etc.), other features of interaction with the media, and conversely, the rules for media operations in combat zones as defined (adopted) in foreign countries (Israel, Azerbaijan, Turkey, etc.); the experience of communication activities of specialized structures (public relations bodies) of the armed forces of certain foreign countries, as well as the Defense Forces of Ukraine over the past 10 years, was summarized.
