Head Yermolenko Serhii V., Кандидат біологічних наук Registration Date 27-02-2026 Organization Oles Honchar Dnipro National University popup.description1 The aim of the project is to develop a concept for the development of the aquaculture and heliceculture agro-industrial complex in the regional centres of Ukraine during the war and post-war period. Through the efficient utilisation of water bodies and areas suitable for aquaculture and heliceculture, the aim is to create conditions that will promote consumer demand among the local population and exports abroad. popup.description2 The study provides a comprehensive analysis of aquaculture assemblages in natural and artificial water bodies, determines the species composition and functional role of macrophytes as key components of aquatic ecosystems that ensure primary production, self-purification processes, accumulation of biogenic elements, and formation of habitats for other hydrobionts. The influence of heavy metals on macrophytes, manifested by the activation of oxidative stress, changes in the functioning of the antioxidant system, and a decrease in the physiological activity of plants, was investigated. Laboratory experiments have established an increase in the level of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in aquatic vertebrates, indicating the neurotoxic effects of environmental factors and possible disturbances in behavioural responses and adaptive mechanisms. The example of natural shallow-water complexes of the Middle Dnieper has confirmed the high bioreproductive and regenerative potential of macrophytes and benthic invertebrates, which justifies their use in non-traditional aquaculture. A basin-pond method for growing the giant freshwater shrimp Macrobrachium rosenbergii has been developed, suitable for use in farming conditions. Product Description popup.authors Iryna V.
