Its aim is the systematic study and phenomenological explication of the traumatic experience of contemporary Ukrainian culture as it manifests in collective and individual practices of national memory, everyday life, political culture, and social interaction. The project also seeks to develop and experimentally validate a multidisciplinary methodology of social therapy for collective and individual traumatic experience, adapted to the current needs of Ukrainian society. The research objectives are: (1) to identify and typologise the principal forms of traumatic experience characteristic of Ukrainian culture under martial law; (2) to provide a detailed phenomenological description of cultural experience referring to clusters of trauma related to national memory, wartime conditions, political culture, everyday life, and social interaction; (3) to provide a phenomenological description of experiences of well-being, happiness, and flourishing in contemporary Ukrainian culture and to examine their transformation before and after the full-scale invasion; (4) to elaborate a concept of multidisciplinary social therapy grounded in a phenomenological-existential approach and adapted to the present wartime context; (5) to develop an experimental methodology of social therapy for traumatic cultural experience; and (6) to assess the effectiveness, advantages, and limitations of an existentially grounded model of social therapy. The core hypothesis of the project is that the phenomenological method, developed within transcendental phenomenology and phenomenology of perception, constitutes a precise complementary instrument for examination of cultural trauma, particularly within the Ukrainian context.
