Head Lishchuk Pavlo O., Кандидат фізико-математичних наук Registration Date 04-03-2026 Organization Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv popup.description1 This project aims to provide experimental research and modelling of thermal processes in composite systems based on phase-change materials with improved thermophysical properties. The project's main task is to optimize the accumulating and controlled utilization of thermal energy in such systems. popup.description2 The relevance of this research is driven by the urgent need to develop reliable systems for thermal energy storage and reuse, specifically for dual-use applications (thermal energy storage units, personal heating devices, and thermal stabilization of electronics). The core idea of the project is to create composite systems featuring phase transitions within the operating temperature ranges by incorporating organic phase-change materials (PCMs) into nanostructured matrices of various morphologies (e.g., nanostructured porous silicon, silicon nanowires, carbon structures, etc.). The working hypothesis suggests that the developed "solid/PCM" interface and confinement effects allow for precise control over nucleation processes. This approach aims to eliminate supercooling and significantly increase the thermal conductivity of the composite systems compared to the use of bulk PCMs. The aim of the work is to establish the physical mechanisms of heat transfer in composite systems and to develop recommendations for creating high-performance composite thermal energy storage devices based on the findings. To achieve this goal, the following tasks are addressed: 1) Synthesis of stable composite systems with predefined morphologies. 2) Development and adaptation of non-destructive photoacoustic and photothermal methods for diagnosing the thermophysical properties of PCM-based composite systems, specifically for analyzing thermal conductivity. 3) Comprehensive experimental study of the influence of temperature and matrix structure on thermal transport, particularly within the phase transition zones. 4) Numerical modeling of heat transfer processes to verify experimental data and optimize material characteristics. The integrated combination of experimental research and modeling provides a scientific foundation for the advancement of next-generation energy-saving technologies.
