Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description1 Disturbances in the Earth-atmosphere-ionosphere-magnetosphere system caused by the action of high-energy sources of natural (geospace storms, the fall of massive meteoroids, the movement of the solar terminator, solar eclipses, weather fronts, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, etc.) and anthropogenic origin (powerful explosions, active military actions, disasters at military arsenals, powerful radiation of radio systems, etc.) can significantly affect the characteristics of the propagation of radio waves of various frequency bands and, accordingly, the efficiency of the operation of various radio technical systems, both civil and military, terrestrial and satellite. There is an urgent problem of forecasting and taking into account these distortions in the characteristics of radio waves during the operation of the mentioned radio equipment. Purpose of the research is theoretical and experimental studies of the influence of high-energy processes of artificial and natural origin on the ionospheric channels of telecommunications, radar, radio reconnaissance and navigation, determination of the magnitude of distortions of the main radio signal parameters, as well as the development of recommendations for taking into account these effects in the operation of radio engineering systems. popup.description2 The object of research is large- and global-scale physical processes in the atmosphere and geospace caused by the action of high-energy sources of natural and man-made origin. The subject of the study is the degree of distortion of the main characteristics of radio signals used in radar and telecommunications systems, as well as in satellite-borne and ground-based navigation systems, under the action of high-energy sources of natural and man-made origin at various distances. The goal of the research is theoretical and experimental studies of the impact of high-energy processes of artificial and natural origin on the ionospheric propagation channels for radar, navigation, telecommunications, and radio reconnaissance; the determination of the magnitude of ionospheric distortion of the main parameters of radio signals used by the systems, as well as the development of recommendations to take these effects into account in the operation of radio engineering systems. At the second stage of the research, initial data were generated for the development of empirical models of disturbances in the near-to-Earth environment and distortions of radio signal characteristics in ionospheric radio channels under the influence of such natural sources of disturbance as geospace storms (using the example of events on April 23–24, 2023, November 4–7, 2023, May 10–11, 2024, and September 11–21, 2024), solar X-ray flares (using the example of events on May 8–14, 2024), solar eclipses (using the example of events on June 21, 2020, April 20, 2023, and April 8, 2024), as well as global seismic activity. In this research used experimental data obtained both by our own remote sensing tools and from global information resources (INTERMAGNET, GIRO, etc.). Product Description popup.authors Anatolii M.
