Changes in the proteome of bread winter wheat grains under the influence of temporary drought were analyzed, and it was found that the proteome of drought-tolerant varieties differs from that of drought-sensitive varieties. That is, differentially accumulated proteins in the grains of drought-tolerant varieties can serve as molecular markers for the selection of drought-tolerant genotypes. It has been established that wheat samples that combine wheat-rye genomes or only rye translocations show greater resistance to powdery mildew and leaf septoria pathogens. The Department of Molecular Genetics has started an in vitro culture collection of duckweed. A comprehensive system for assessing duckweed species diversity has been proposed, using modern methods of molecular genetic and cytogenetic analysis, which allows characterizing both “pure” duckweed species and hybrids. It has been proven for the first time that L. x japonica is a hybrid of L. turionifera and L. minor—in diploid and triploid clones containing untranscribed 5S rDNA spacers from L. x japonica, the nucleotide sequences of L. turionifera and L. minor are present. For the first time, the complete primary structure (at the nucleotide level) of 5S rRNA genes in plants, namely in duckweed Spirodela polyrhiza, has been deciphered. It has been proven that the use of DNA markers makes it possible to detect genes for resistance to aphids (Er1) and scab (vf), as well as the Md-ACS1 gene for “fruit shelf life” at early stages of apple tree development.
