Registration Date 09-03-2026 Organization National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute" popup.description1 Design and manufacture a prototype of a vacuum-arc thruster for CubeSat-type satellites with an engine thrust in impulse of at least 10 μN, a specific impulse of at least 1000 s, and a volume (together with the electrical power system) of no more than 0.3 U popup.description2 Within the reporting stage of the research and development project, a set of results was obtained aimed at advancing plasma technologies, nanomaterials science, and electric propulsion systems for space applications. The interaction of a low – energy electron beam with beam-sensitive materials was studied using crystalline gold trichloride as a model system. The experiments revealed mechanisms of carbon nanostructure formation on the surface and phase transformations in the near-surface volume, which significantly affect the accuracy of electron microscopy and compositional analysis. A new plasma-initiated approach for the controlled transformation of nanomaterials from one – dimensional to two – dimensional structures was proposed, providing new opportunities for tailoring material properties. The prospects of plasma – based technologies for additive manufacturing under space conditions were analyzed, highlighting their potential for autonomous fabrication and repair in vacuum and microgravity environments. A non – contact system for measuring the surface temperature during vacuum-arc coating deposition was developed, enabling real – time control of thermal conditions. An impulse vacuum-arc plasma source for multicomponent coatings was created. In addition, a power supply unit for a vacuum – arc thruster, a signal conditioning module, and a prototype thruster were developed. Vacuum chamber tests confirmed the operational stability and feasibility of the proposed technical solutions. Product Description popup.authors Serhii L. Abashyn Oleh O. Baranov Oleksandr M.
