Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description1 The purpose of the project is to develop methods and create mathematical models for defining and studying the features of the eletromagnetic field emitted by patch antennas on metamaterial substrates as well as posibilities to control this field via substrate properties; develop designs of miniature patch antennas on metamaterial substrates, which provides minimum possible linear dimensions while preserving the operational characteristics of the antenna. popup.description2 We proposes approaches and methods for optimizing a patch antenna in terms of its mass, dimensions and operational characteristics. These approaches can also be used to develop antennas with parameters close to the customer's requirements. The essence of the method is to use a metamaterial as a substrate. Miniaturization of the patch is achieved due to the high value of the effective permittivity of the substrate, while the complex configuration of the metamaterial near field allows you to control the parasitic capacitance and the radiation level of the antenna Attention is also paid to the theory of metamaterials. On the one hand, a theory of a technologically simple metamaterial consisting of a periodic array of cylindrical conductors has been built. Such a substrate is relatively simple to manufacture and suitable for creating inexpensive patch antennas, the parameters of which can be optimized taking into account the material properties of available dielectrics and conductors. On the other hand, a theory of more complex metamaterials has been developed, which are also technological, but require specialized equipment and the use of modern materials. Antennas based on them are more expensive, but their characteristics can exceed known world analogues and find commercial application in mobile and secure communications, guidance systems, etc A fabrication technique for patch antennas with a metamaterial substrate using 3D printing technology has been developed. Experimental studies of the parameters of the antenna samples confirmed the validity of the proposed mathematical models and software and the theoretical predictions regarding the improving the efficiency of patch antennas with metamaterial substrate In addition, the work develops a model of a bifunctional “cloak” capable of masking objects from both microwave radiation and thermal radiation and of a meta-waveguide, and demonstrates generating a wave with orbital angular momentum in a microstrip antenna Product Description popup.authors Oleksii M.
