This context necessitates a comprehensive reconsideration of traditional approaches to heritage protection at all key levels, including the legal and regulatory, governance, organizational, and information and communication dimensions. The reconfiguration of the role and positioning of monuments and other components of cultural heritage is not limited to a reassessment of their intrinsic values and meanings within contemporary Ukrainian society. It also entails a transformation of the roles of key stakeholders involved in heritage protection and management, including state authorities, civil society actors, and business entities. Furthermore, it requires the development of mechanisms for integrating innovative approaches into national heritage practice - particularly those tested and validated by international partners - as well as the establishment of clear criteria for the reinterpretation of cultural heritage in the context of decommunization and decolonization policies. Such measures will not only contribute to enhancing the overall effectiveness of heritage protection and management activities, but will also facilitate post-war recovery processes and the subsequent adaptive reuse of cultural heritage assets, ensure the preservation of their authenticity and core heritage values while responding to the conditions of a new social reality.
