The experimental study of the electrical and optical characteristics of LEDs, which includes the measurement of the volt-ampere characteristic, luminous radiation power, spectrum, calculation of the ideality factor and the dependence of the corresponding values on the current, allows such characterisation to be carried out by detecting anomalies and determining their sources and probable causes. The abnormal ideality factor of the voltage-current curves is a reliable marker of current leakage channels, in particular, due to the presence of defects in the active area.
