The concepts of contact zones at water-land interface were systematised, and zoning of research subject within the Dnipro-Bug Estuary was proposed. Within the estuarine zone is trend towards a reduction in the area of the ‘water-land’ contact zone, currently only 62% of these water areas remain, which is caused by the consequences of the Kakhovka disaster. An important environmental aspect is decrease in dynamic activity of water masses in the coastal zone and the change in productive, ecologically useful areas of the coast occupied by sandy beaches with effective substrate to low-productive types of contact zones characteristic of stagnant dystrophic water ecosystems. Based on the results of long-term observations, a fairly clear relationship was established between the total number of bacteria and the period of external water exchange. It has a moderate inverse weakly exponential relationship. The taxonomic diversity of microalgae in the interstitial water of the supralittoral zone of urban beaches in Kherson was studied for the first time, which amounted to 106 species. The seasonal changes in quantitative development of algae in the habitat was characterised by a gradual increase in indicators from spring to autumn. Data on macrozoobenthos of the water-land contact zone of the estuary region are presented. In the water-land contact zone of the estuary, favourable conditions were noted for the mass development of the amphipod Pontogammarus maeoticus, which is characterised by extreme population stability. The high production potential of this species indicates the possibility of its use for economic purposes. Product Description popup.authors Yevhen I. Korzhov Ivan V. Shevchenko Yurii V. Kvach Alla M.
