The project plans to study the state and dynamics of agricultural land use change and develop priority areas for improving approaches to agricultural land monitoring. popup.description2 Monitoring of agricultural lands is an integral part of the land resources management system, which ensures timely detection of negative changes in the state of soil cover, assessment of the consequences of anthropogenic load and making informed management decisions regarding the rational use of land. The study focuses on the analysis of the procedure for collecting, processing, transmitting, storing and interpreting information on the state of agricultural lands. It has been established that the intensification of production activities leads to a disruption of the dynamic balance of ecosystems, degradation of soil and vegetation cover and impoverishment of biodiversity, which actualizes the need to improve the tools for systematic monitoring of the state of lands. The need for a comprehensive approach to planning monitoring activities is substantiated, taking into account environmental, economic and social requirements, which corresponds to the principles of sustainable land use enshrined in international documents. Priority areas for improving monitoring have been identified, related to the restructuring of the extractive industry and the need to monitor the condition of disturbed and reclaimed lands. The results of the study form a methodological basis for developing an effective system for monitoring agricultural lands and can be used by state land management bodies, environmental protection institutions and scientific organizations in the formation of environmental and land policy of Ukraine.
