The purpose of the research is to theoretically substantiate the foundations of professional foreign language training of specialists in economic and technical specialties taking into account the strategic objectives of the higher education development, the globalization of modern society, and the peculiarities of distance learning; to characterize the practical and psychological aspects of interaction among all participants in the educational process; and to integrate the results of the research into the developed models. Research methods – theoretical methods: analysis, synthesis, generalization and systematization of scientific sources; empirical methods: pedagogical observation and student surveys; comparative methods: comparison of approaches, methodologies, and learning outcomes; descriptive methods: to characterize language and communicative strategies and educational processes. The system of professional foreign language training for specialists in economic and technical specialties, the psychological and pedagogical factors for increasing students’ motivation to master a business foreign language communication, the organizational and communicative features of teaching methods for foreign languages to non-philological students in higher education institutions, as well as linguistic principles of teaching a professionally oriented foreign language were subject-specifically investigated.
