Mathematical models of lightning discharge created allow to reproduce the characteristics of electric and magnetic fields. The estimations of their errors are made (up to 40 - 50 %). The cooperative investigations of an accuracy (1 km) and of detection efficiency (up to 30%) performed on parts of the Canadian and US lightning monitoring systems.
