A systematic analysis of a considerable amount of data on the tests of a duration of 100000 hrs and above has been first made. Based on the results obtained, the method of base diagrams has been refined. Considerable potentialities have been found to increase the accuracy and reliability of the prediction based on the empirical investigations and, in particular, on the principle of basic relations applied. The utility of the above principle and method is shown for various conditions of loading. The advantage of the refined method of base diagrams as compared to the best world-wide analogs is substantiated.
