It has been revealed that the level of thymic serum factor isn't significantly changed 1 month after thyroidectomy. Single administration of thyroxin at varions doses 24 after doesn't effect on endocrine thymic function of normal animals, but increases the level of substances with thymosin-like activity in thymectomized mice. Glucocorticoid function of adrenal cortex is being decreased at some extent after thymectomy and thyroidectomy, and administration of thyroxin into such animals promotes the increase of cortisol and decrease of TTH in circulation. These changes are accompanied by some changes in the immune system both under the conditions of the experiment and in the patients with thyroidectomy for thyroid illness.
