Tul. is a disease of wheat that has caused substantial yield reduction and loss quality in both spring and winter wheat in Ukraine. Current screening tests for resistance to bunt are time consuming, labour intensive, and frequently inconclusive, because of environmental effects an the expression of susceptibility. The identification of molecular markers linked to bunt resistance and susceptibility alleles would greatly facilitate the screening of wheat lines and accelerate the development of new resistant cultivars. The random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique was used to search for molecular markers linked to gene resistance to common bunt, which was introgressed to bread wheat from Aegilops cylindrica L. Two fragments - 550 b.p. and 670 b.p. which permit to differentiate resistance and susceptible forms of bread wheat in analyzing population, were revealed by bulked segregate analysis.
