The purpose of the research - an improvement of the manufacture technology of periclase refractories on a spinel binder. The research methods - chemical analysis, petrographic, determination of open porosity, apparent density, cold crushing strenght, thermal stability and initial softening temperature. An influence of differenr technological parameters on the properties of refractories was ascertained: the content of finely milled component in the mixture, the granulometric composition of alumina, the content of alumina in a finely milled component, a specific pressure of compaction and firing temperature. Optimal parameters of the manufacture of periclase refractories on a spinel binder were determined. In accordance with an improved technology the refractories exceeding considerably the specification indexes as to the thermal stability (5 heatcycles) and initial softening temperature (1690 oC) were produced.
