The processes of structure formation during the hydration of granulated Chinese slags and alkaline activator solutions have been studies with a set of examination techniques (physical- chemical analysis, X-ray analysis, differential- thermal analysis, Infra-red spectroscopy and electron microscopy). The optimal compositions of the slag alkali- activated cements have been developed. These cements are characteristic of compressive strength at an age of 3 days- 15- 40 MPa, at an age of 7 days- 25- 50 MPa and an age of 28 days- 40- 70 MPa, thus allowing to classify them as high strength cementitious systems.
