Aim of the work - definition of phytosanitary state and natural fire risk assessment of forests of eastern part of the EZ. The development is based on improved methods of processing and on analysis of spectral characteristics of landscape components in visible and infra-red ranges of electromagnetic waves on multiband space images using program ERDAS Imagine (USA) for PC of a type Pentium IV. In scale 1:50 000 it has been carried out the classification of a vegetative cover of investigated region according to phytosanitary state and fire risk peculiarities (for square about 675 km2).
