The purpose of study is a search of the records and bibliographical materials, compiling bibliography, copying, edition, translation, commentary, preparing to printing. The search of new documents and works, their edition, re-edition of the materials on the history of the region demands retrieval work in the archives and libraries as well as the painstaking studies of the revealed materials . The main task of this year is re-publication of the works of the well-known historian of the Slobidsky Ukraine D.I.Bagalij. During the 2001 II tom of D.I. Bahaliy's " Selective works" has been commented and prepared to printing (about 40 printed lists). The preparing of III tom to edittion has been begun. The memoirs of Chr. D. Rommel, who was a professor of Kharkiv university in 1811-1813, have been printed in the series. "Ukraine in the travel notes and memoirs" (about 13 printed lists). Work at the translation as well as the scientific commentary to J.Chr.Engel's " History of Ukraine and Ukrainian Kosaks " has been continued. The part of this historical work has been published in the historian - culturological collection " East-West" (2001- issue3). Memoirs of V. Abaza, who was V.N. Karazin's contemprorary, has been prepared to edition. Results of the scientific work are publications in 2001 II tom of D.I.Bagalij's " Selective works" memoirs of Chr.D.Rommel, the part of J.Chr.Engel's work "History of Ukraine and ukrainian kozaks" as well as a number of documentary sources in the professional issues.
