Target of work: determination of the efficiency of gas treatment system operation when suppluing anode chlorine to this system from 12 and more electrolysis cells with low current load. Methods of investigations: experimental process tests, chemical-analytical analysis. The main purpose of work consists in determination of the possibility of chlorine trapping by means of a three-stage lime gas treatment system in emergency situation, which may occur in the event of salt chlorinator failure in the shop No.2. The results of performed investigations revealed, that during supply of anode chlorine gas to the gas treatment system from 17 electrolysis cells with chlorine concentration up to 35.628 g/nm3 the efficiency of chlorine trapping makes up 100%. The results of work allowed to elaborate the recommendations,which in case of their strict observance provide reliability and efficient operation of gas treatment system under the emergency conditions of work. The supplements to the operating manual has been developed as well as changes to the process instruction "Treatment of magnesium production gases".
